"LED Active Warning Clothing" developed by Taiwan Textiles Institute won the award by BSI

In order to improve the safety of work during the duty or in the handling of traffic accidents, the traffic police generally wear reflective vests and raincoats to improve their visibility. However, since the reflective vest is passively illuminated, it can be used in low visibility or nighttime environments. The effect of the play is limited, so there is a risk to the traffic police on duty. In order to improve the safety of the traffic police on duty, the Taiwan Textile Industry Research Institute (hereinafter referred to as Taiwan Textiles Research Institute) has cooperated with the industry to jointly develop the "LED Active Warning Service" and will donate 200 pieces to Taipei City and New Taipei City. And the traffic police of the traffic brigade of the three municipalities directly under the jurisdiction of Kaohsiung City will experience it, and the future will expand the application of the warning service.

Taiwan Textiles Co., Ltd. has consulted with other international standards and cooperated with British Standards Association-bsi to invite more than 10 scholars and experts from the United Kingdom, Belgium, Finland, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong and Taiwan to participate in the development of "LED". "Proactive warning clothing" industry standard "PAS 10412", which was developed by the Technical Department of the Ministry of Economic Affairs 'Innovation Prospective Technology Research Program of Textiles Institute'. The Textiles Institute was also awarded the “2015 BSI AWARD New Standard Contribution Award” by the British Standards Association-bsi.

"LED Active Warning Clothing" is a combination of Taiwan Textiles Integrated Machinery / Fabric Cable, Hongxing Photoelectric / LED Yarn (Taiwan Textiles Institute LED yarn patent authorized Hongxing Optoelectronics, and assisted in the construction of LED yarn production line and mass production ), Shengyang Information/Control Wafer and Module Package (LED Flashing Microsystem Circuit/Current Management Module/Streaming Module/Terminal Module and other electronic circuit manufacturing and mold packaging), and Textile Machinery Warning Clothing Processing Technology “Cross-industry integration”, this case of integration in the middle and lower reaches will create a win-win situation for supply chain operators.

Director Bai Zhizhong of Taiwan Textiles Institute said that the "LED Active Warning Service" will be used to give the traffic police on the line an actual experience, and in the future can apply this warning service to other night workers ( Such as: road cleaners) to improve the safety of night workers' workplace work.

Zhou Guocun, a spokesperson for the Taiwan Textiles General Institute, said that reflective vests or raincoats must be lighted up to reflect light. They are passively illuminated. In case of driving only with low beam or even light, the reflective vest can have limited functions. The LED active illuminating warning suit can illuminate itself without relying on the external light source, which can improve the safety of the traffic police personnel on duty.

Zhou Guocun said that the LED warning suit has the characteristics of active illumination, brightness improvement, direct water washing, etc. The charging can be illuminated for one day at a time. The traffic police personnel can charge after taking off the vest, or carry the backup power to charge at any time.
