Synthetic ruby ​​This is the first synthetic gemstone produced on an industrial scale, and flame fusion is widely used in production.
Synthetic rubies are usually bright red, very different from natural rubies, and have the same physical properties. In addition to being processed like a natural ruby, it is processed into an elliptical, round or pear-shaped mixed facet type and a waist-round type. Sometimes it is processed into a special type, such as a convex curved surface. The lower part is a faceted rectangular or elliptical mixed ç¢ type; or the upper part is a convex curved surface and a facet, and the lower part is a faceted rectangular mixed ç¢ type. These special types are unique to synthetic rubies and have a grain weight of 5 to 15 carats. It is also possible to use synthetic rubies to process beaded necklaces and bracelets. Such jewellery and crafts can never be made of natural rubies.
Synthetic rubies made by hand are quite clear and transparent, and some do not even contain any inclusions. However, most synthetic rubies produced by flame melting have more or less the growth characteristics caused by this method: only the direction of observation is specified, and the fine curved growth line of this synthetic product is under a magnifying glass. As you can see, of course, it is clearer under the microscope. ^Small bubbles and tiny opaque inclusions (which are residual unmelted raw material powders) appear in groups. Network-like cracks may be seen in some synthetic rubies, which are similar to some natural rubies containing many inclusions, caused by drastic changes in temperature. As long as you pay attention to observation, this "eye-catching" method will become an identification feature of synthetic products.
Synthetic rubies are particularly low cost and cannot be compared to the price of natural rubies. In fact, most of the cost of ordinary synthetic rubies is the cost of cutting. However, the ruby ​​synthesized by the flux method and the hydrothermal method has a higher cost, and is roughly equivalent to the price of the mid-range natural gemstone, so there are not many on the market. It is worth noting that some unscrupulous jewelers sell synthetic rubies made by these two methods as natural rubies for profit.
